I know most of you guys are hardcore GSR SC guys but I wanted to know what you think of LS...I know most would say go for Turbo..but turbos are not carbed aproved ..which will take me to another question..will GReedy GSR turbo be carbed aproved if I put it on my LS..from what I hear its only $80 worth of mods to make it fit on LS..
I know JRSC for SC will produce not a lot of horses so I will not even go there..but what do you think?
another option is GSR swap and then put JRSC on..but thats $7k worth of mods and I can get a turbo for half that price..
another question is ..what you guys think of Drag III ...any good..and if I want to pass smog do I need to take out the whole turbo or just some part of it? thanks a lot guys.

well .. were to start.. well there are a few guy here that have a sc/ls the dyno results are not in .. yet but i am sure they will be goog 180 whp, jacksons sc/ls results seemed low a stock ls at 106 whp..import tuner dyno'd a ls auto with 108whp.. hmmmmany i have heard of ls guys having 115-120 who stock any way i think most turbos do not have carb, if you modify a greddy gsr turbo i don't think it will be carb.I am hoping to get a dragII, it is cheaper , plus i talked to a dealer and he said that drag told him the only real difference between the 2 kits is more chrome in the drag II, and a different bov., i think they both come with a boost gauge?another option is itr sc it will bolt on with minor mods, not sure but i know someone on this board is doing it...

Be patient grasshoppa !
I had a fantastic phone chat with T.O.O this morning (almost 2 hours !
) and if my charger comes this week, I will have it down to him by next week, maybe back to me by first week in May. Then I'll get some dynos posted. My car is basically bone-stock right now, so it'll be interesting to see the improvements.
You can get the TypeR blower, the high output BOSCH (not Walbro) fuel pump, and the manifold mods for around $3K. If you are feeling mechanically inclined, that's all the expense youll have.
Getting an GSR engine swap is a waste of money IMHO. The B18b should produce similar numbers to the B18c1 under forced induction.

A Stock LS puts down around 117 HP to the wheels. Jackson Racing's dyno's of a stock LS is a megar 100 HP. 140 down to 100? WOW! There's something fishy going on... I expect at least 180 HP from my JRSC LS setup.
I'll be dynoing my supercharged LS this weekend. I am fully prepared to eat my words

Well 140 hp is at the crank - plan on losing about 15% through a manual trans, more for a automatic, so 116 hp seems perfectly reasonable.
Whats so maddening about the JRSC M45 based kit is that (a) it took 8 additional months to come out after the GSR and Type R, and (b) when it did, LS owners were STILL
at a disadvantage compared to GS-R, with mostly the difference in size of the two blowers to blame. When you see the changes that need to be made to a TypeR manifold to make it fit, you have to wonder why they didnt bother.
Heres to hoping for 230 at the crank (195.5 at the wheels) booo yaa

You people comparing the LS and GSR superchargers seem to be almost ignoring the size of blower factor, and completely overlooking the compression difference. The GSR with almost a whole extra point in the static compression ration is going to make much more power with forced induction. High compression + forced air = mad power, along with much increased chance of detonation.
I don't see the Supercharged LS making any more than 170 to the wheels at very best.

well let's think of it this way. the jr ls was a 98, obd2 right? didn't the ob2 gsr put down 10 less than the ob1 right? could that be the culprit? if that's the case then 110-120 ob1 and 100-110 ob2.
hey jg, the drag3 has a better manifold. the drag2 manifold was prone to cracking that's why people switced out for a rev hard manifold. the drag3 is a much better manifold and also drag3 comes with a filter which i don't believe the drag2 did...and your right about the bov, drag3 comes with hks ss and the drag2 came with the greddy type s

I've always said it's a conspiracy.
Yeah, not enough room to fit the M62 in the LS my ass. Please!
Phantom:
While the GSR may have higher compression, VTEC doesn't help with a blower. The non-vtec, if set up right, has much better results.
Just gotta do the free-flowing exhaust, kamikaze headers, and a good intake, and the LS should kick some major ass!
Go LS peoples!
Now if they only gave us D16 people the M62, then we'd see what's up!
